Anjali Thakur-Mittal
Anjali Thakur-Mittal is the deputy director for field operations and director of the Americans for a Fair Chance project for The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and The Leadership Conference Education Fund. As director of Americans for a Fair Chance, or AFC, Mrs. Thakur-Mittal works to establish and support multisectored coalitions in the states and devise strategies to conduct public education and constituent advocacy campaigns primarily around the importance of affirmative action and other programs aimed at expanding equal opportunity and preventing discrimination.
Before joining The Leadership Conference, Mrs. Thakur-Mittal served as interim field director at the American Association of University Women and prior to that as senior grassroots coordinator, working to educate and activate members around policy issues such as judicial nominations, Title IX, and higher education. Mrs. Thakur-Mittal has also worked for the National Partnership for Women and Families focusing on civil rights, employment discrimination, and welfare reauthorization.
Mrs. Thakur-Mittal helped write and served as co-editor of Student Success: A Guidebook for Making the Most of Your College Experience and is on the National Board of the Student Success Network. She has a B.A. in political science and communications with a concentration in public service from Albion College in Michigan.
