Northeast South Dakota Community Action Partnership (NESDCAP), worked with National Relief Charities, an organization that teaches budgeting, to improve the community’s financial stability during difficult economic times.

Participants benefited from discussing budgeting techniques with NESDCAP staff, receiving financial management tools and education, and accessing other services the agency provides. NESDCAP aimed to create an opportunity for individuals to gain long-term financial management skills and knowledge that would assist families for years. Families who participated in the educational portion of the program were eligible to receive food and household items each month as a tangible incentive.

CSBG funds were used for staff program administration time and accounting/record keeping. Last year 481 individuals improved their financial management skills with this program.
