The Campaign to Cut Poverty in Half in Ten Years

Special State Calls in OH, VA, IA, CO: Making the Right Choices to Cut Poverty in the Lame Duck

Struggling families have a lot at stake if Congress fails to confront the “fiscal cliff” by the end of the year. Without congressional action, vital expansions to tax credits for working families and federal emergency unemployment insurance benefits will expire at the end of the year. Not only that, but sequestration applies automatic cuts to vital human needs programs such as job training, early education, and nutrition assistance for mothers and infants, all scheduled to take effect in January 2013.

To help equip advocates with the resources they need to take action, Half in Ten has partnered with the Coalition on Human Needs to facilitate several state-specific calls with advocates and organizations. These calls will bring together national and state-based policy experts to discuss federal and state initiatives. We will also be providing special state-specific data, social media, and press resources with opportunities to take action together at the local and national level.
