Half in Ten and CAP Action Push for UI Extension and Poverty-Reduction Target

The Census Bureau released data throughout September that revealed growing poverty in 2008, spelling hard times for families who were struggling even before the recession. UI Reforms Reach Workers in 34 States

Half in Ten and the National Employment Law Project team up to support reforms to the unemployment insurance system in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In four months, 25 states have enacted reforms to modernize and expand their UI programs, and 21 states with high unemployment rates have extended benefits to cover an additional 13-20 weeks.
